Today’s Best World Cup City Hotels Experience in New York

The Plaza Hotel

The Plaza Hotel is one of New York City’s most famous luxury hotels, located at Fifth Avenue and Central Park South beside Central Park. The current building opened in 1907, replacing an earlier hotel on the same site, and was designed in a French Renaissance château style by architect Henry Janeway Hardenbergh. Its white façade, mansard roof, grand public rooms, and prominent location helped make it a symbol of old New York elegance. Over the decades, The Plaza became known for hosting wealthy travellers, celebrities, diplomats, society events, weddings, and major cultural moments. The hotel’s Palm Court, ballrooms, and historic interiors have helped preserve its reputation as both a functioning hotel and a landmark destination. Architecturally, The Plaza is notable for its château-like silhouette, decorative roofline, marble and brick exterior, and ornate interiors. It has undergone major renovations, including a large restoration completed in 2008, after which the building included hotel rooms, residences, and condo-hotel suites.

Today, The Plaza remains a five-star luxury hotel and one of Manhattan’s best-known landmarks. Its importance comes not only from its architecture and hospitality, but also from its role as a cultural icon representing glamour, wealth, and the mythology of New York City.

The Plaza Hotel was awarded United States' Leading Hotel 2025, United States' Leading Hotel Suite 2025 and New York's Leading Hotel Suite 2025 by the World Travel Awards.
